Websites

Finding the best school to fit your needs can be daunting.  Luckily, there are some great websites to help you in this process.

Unigo: is a free online college resource guide and student platform claiming to cover more than 1,600 colleges and universities in the United States. The Unigo website is used by college students to share photos, videos, documents, and reviews of their school. High school students and parents use the site as a research tool to explore college options. Unigo's main purpose is to create a student-generated online college guide that does not have the limitations that its print counterparts do. This allows college students to update information about their school on a continuous basis and cover topics not found in traditional guidebooks/ Student-submitted photos and videos allow users to see what Carnegie Mellon's newspaper, The Tartan, described as "a virtual campus visit."

Big Future: is a resource from College Board.  It allows the user to search for school meeting their criteria.  It covers all aspects of college choice, including: costs, location, application criteria, students with disabilities, scholarships, and financial aid.  One of the most useful tools is are video feedback on particular schools from students, admissions, and high school counselors.

SuperMatch: is a website offered from College Confidential that aims to help students and parents develop a short list of schools that are worth evaluating in detail.  It offers over 20 search criteria to narrow down the search to schools that most appeal to the user.  Once the favorites are determined, SuperMatch's Compare View allows the user to see how their pinned selected schools stack up to each other on the factors that matter most to them.

CollegeView: is another great resource.  It allows the user to search for schools based on the issues that are most important to them.  Included are: location, majors, test scores, tuition and fees, school size, party scene, ethnicity, Greek life, and sports.
